As Hope Springs Eternal, It May Be Time to Consider Installing a Baseball Backstop | Ashburn, VA

Apr 16, 2015 | Sports Netting

It’s that time of year again when as the saying goes, “In spring, hope springs eternal and a young man’s fancy turns to baseball.” The major leagues have officially opened for business, and with that comes the parallel arrival of Little League, men’s and women’s softball, t-ball, and various other incarnations of America’s Game.

If you’re the proud parent of a future hall-of-famer getting ready to participate in one of spring’s rites of passage, then you know there is plenty of equipment to buy: balls, bats, gloves, and more. If you have a nicely sized back yard that you intend to have your child practice their best fastball in, another handy piece of equipment to look into is the baseball backstop.

You’ll see this item at most fields around your community. It’s a large piece of fencing that stands a good distance behind home plate and basically stops any ball from ricocheting off a bat and planting itself firmly into the cranium of an innocent spectator sitting in the bleachers back there. It’s also good for stopping the occasional pitched ball that errantly trickles away from the catcher’s misplaced glove. Usually they’re constructed of a chain link fence material and prove quite durable through all sorts of weather and other forms of destruction that a baseball game can cause.

If you are thinking of putting up a baseball backstop at your residential property, or if you are considering building one for your community field, you should consider discussing the possibilities with a professional fencing company.
